Shellie and I haven’t known each other long, but its a friendship that feels like we have. Our conversations often jump from topic to topic, each able to follow the other’s train of thought even when it derails. The week that we met, she & her family moved from living down the street to across the valley. Then, a few months later, they moved again. This time, across the country to the East Coast! So our conversations turned to text & phone calls instead of coffee dates. One afternoon, I received a text that “Hey, we’re gonna be in town this weekend, can you squeeze us in for family photos?” Of course, I can’t turn down a request from an out of state friend. So we went out to Papago Park in Tempe to enjoy a gorgeous sunset in the desert setting. If you’ve never been out to Papago Park, make the effort to do it. Its tucked next to the Phoenix Zoo, and is a fun place for kids to run & play while enjoying the nature of Arizona. You don’t feel like you’re in the middle of the city when you’re walking the trails or watching wild rabbits hop across your path.
Shellie put great effort into coordinating the family outfits, even on short notice. She went with a red, blue & neutral theme, mixing & matching patterns to keep it fun and casual while standing out in the natural setting. Plus, check out the kids shoes! So cute! Love Dr Seuss! Photo sessions are all about laughing, playing and being silly while getting great images to decorate their home, and that’s what we did. The kids collected rocks & sticks, danced in the dirt, got tickled, and just had a good time!
The life of a military family is never boring, and now they are off on another amazing adventure: HAWAII! I am super excited for them to add this new location to their list of places lived, and am crossing my fingers that next year’s family photos will be at the beach. 😉
